If you're just starting out, I would recommend Fisher Investments on Energy. It offers an overview of the O&G industry, and ties it into portfolio management. There is a section on security analysis which details the questions to ask when evaluating companies in different subsectors of the industry. It's not a difficult read, although it does get fairly boilerplate at times.

I ended up finding a 300page handbook on my subject, and since oil investing is much more common, I'm sure you can find something just as good, if not better.
Try searching for some type of handbook. It always contains lots of useful practical tips that books dont print.

I ran into the same issue when looking for information on miners.
What I did was search for "mining investing" and I found a course syllabus on it where there was a recommended reading.
So try that.
Search for "oil investing" or "junior oil investing" and see what you get. Then find it on Amazon, look for similar books and choose the best one with the highest reviews.

Hi all,
I am looking for some books on understanding oil and gas investing. I was hoping that some one out there could provide me with a name of a couple of books that I could check out. I am interested in learning about junior oil companies the most and trying to find some undervalued companies.
Thanks,
Rocky
