Yeah im not sure about the bond fund either, just thinking out loud I guess. Would you recommend like the DJIA, SPY or more of a sector index? 

I forgot to mention that I also have HE on my watchlist as well.

Hi and welcome. I hope you will find some valuable information here.

No one was a pro to begin and the important point is to not get ahead of oneself.

I dont know whether a bond fund will be enough these days. Inflation will more than likely eat away the 2% return.

If you simply put your money into an index ETF, you should be fine depending on the entry point.

BBY and WDC look to be good additions on a watchlist but I'm not so sure about AEO. Not as good as ARO in my opinion.

Hey investors its my first post here. Glad i found a forum like this. I am a student of accounting/finance(not sure which one yet) and I live in Colorado.

First off I want to say the spreadsheets are amazing Jae, i didnt know you could link Excel to the internet. That is so cool! I swear, every month I learn something new about Excel. That program is so deep.

My investing background is pitiful. I gave myself a 23rd birthday present in January and opened up an IRA with Scottrade. It took me awhile to realize how much trading commissions cost when you dont have a lot of money. Needless to say, after losing a good chunk of my original principal, i am back to sqaure one trying to learn more. I just rolled my old 401k into my IRA, so I have a good chunk of money to invest, but I dont feel comfortable investing with it yet, besides investments of the safer variety.

If you guys have any good short term bond funds or something that is safe that I can earn better than 2% on, let me know.

Currently I have BBY, AEO, WDC on my watchlist.
