Good observation but the numbers are correct. Only the display is rounded off to 1 decimal place. If you change the number format to 3 or 4 decimal places, you'll see that the EPS is $0.80 etc which is what excel uses in its calculation.

Hi Jae,

I was trying out the 5 yr stock valuation spreadsheet on a microcap – SLP – and I realized that the earnings growth value given in the DCF valuation tab was way off.

For example, SLP's diluted EPS for years 2004 and 2008 were both 0.1 (from the statements tab) but earnings growth for that period came out to be 18.6%. Similar earnings growth numbers were given for other 4 year periods as well, when in reality my calculations gave me different results from that of the spreadsheet.

Could this be because the spreadsheet rounds off earnings number to 1 decimal place and we don't really see the correct earnings on the spreadsheet or does morning star have different values for earnings than other sites.

Can you please check and let us know.

Thanks and Regards

Ranajit
