Did you have the SMF add in installed previously on your computer?

Have you tried restarting? It helps sometimes.

What I see is an excel cache issue.

This may be repetitive but I've listed the step in http://www.oldschoolvalue.com/…..-start-up/

  • open a new excel (not the spreadsheet)
  • go to add-ins and deselect the smf add-in
  • shut down excel completely to empty the excel cache
  • re open excel and go to add-ins again and verify that the check mark is empty
  • shut down excel completely to empty the excel cache
  • reopen excel, go to add-ins again and now browse to the SMF folder and select the new xla again
  • shut down excel completely to empty the excel cache
  • open excel with the spreadsheets

Hello everybody,

I purchased the premium version today and to my knowledge followed the instruction completely.

Here is the configuration of my compuer: Windows XP, Excel 2003 all Service Packs installed. I checked that the SMF parts are installed under c:\SMF.

I did the step described on page 6, in which the Stock Market Functions Add-in is set to be in the above stated folder on hdd c und smf.

Once I did that, I stumbled over the following issue:

1. Open Sheet

2. Popup to Enable Marcros

3. Click Enable Macros

4. Popup about links to other data sources

5. Click Update

6. Click Edit Links

7. Location shows: c:\SMF and status shows: Error undefined or non-rectengular name.

8. Changing it again to c:\SMF and overwriting everthing does not change anything.

9. The end, no ideas anymore :-(.

Error Message from Excel:

"Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Office Excel cannot find 'RCHGetYahooQuotes' on 'RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla'. There are two possible reasons:

- The name zou specified may not be defined.
- The name you specified is defined as something other than a rectangular cell reference.
Check the name and try again."

No matter what I do, I do not get it to run. I checked all three documents (xls files), but it does not work with either one of them. The functions itself work, since I removed to check it out the part of the xls command which refers to c:\smf and then parts of the sheet worked… But I am sure it is not the idea to mess it up completely :-).

Can you please assist me, since I want to start using this great toolkit as soon as possible.

Thank you very much and have a great day,

Frank
