It's not showing the D&A values in the cash flow statement because smartmoney does not have the data.

However, the income statement shows the numbers.

For such a case, the best practice is to verify and then adjust the numbers and enter it into the yellow cellls.

Your owner earnings formula does include adding depreciation and amortization right? What I was curious about was why the owner earnings was so low. I wasn't talking about the fcf numbers being to high, rather the owner earnings being too low. I looked at the rows where the data for depreciation and amortization are supposed to be and there are no numbers. Looking at SEC filings, there definitely was depreciation and amortization charges in recent years. So, I am wondering if this is why the owner earnings calculations (without adding any depreciation and amortization) appear to be much lower than the fcf numbers.
I apologize if I am not understanding correctly. Are you saying that the "other" data could be including depreciation and amortization in this instance?
I appreciate all the time you spend answering our questions. Thanks.

Just take a look at how much "other" there is in the cash flow statement. My owner earnings equation does not include changes in working capital. Since NRG would be capital intensive, that would probably be the case.

Hi Jae,
I was checking to see why the owner earnings compared to the fcf numbers were so different. It appears that there definitely was depreciation and amortization in previous years (via SEC filings) for the stock NRG. The spreadsheet is showing no data for those rows and others.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks,
-Cam
