I agree that Muddy Waters has been right so far. Just meant not every single detail.

CCME did the same thing with the equity raises. Plenty of cash on the books, but they raised equity for some strange reason.

A good point to look for in determining fraud from legit.

From personal experience, it seems that every Chinese company is unresponsive. They also do not let you ask any questions which really is bizarre.

Curious to see what is next on the list.

Site an example of a Chinese stock that they didn't take down. I don't know of any shorts he has missed on DGW RINO  and ONP are his others. And the list of  Chinese frauds are too long to mention some that come to mind is FUQI imploded last year on accounting.  The scare also legitmately halted other stocks like PUDA.

 

I also have noticed quite a few small cap Chinese companies tend to raise equity when it is not really necessary like KGJI and APWR even when they are showing strong profits and  have very strong cash positions and really evasive when it comes to answering conference calls which to me implies they are likely using this excess cash to fudge numbers.

True. Sino-Forestry has taken a mega hit as well. Lost more than 50% of market cap and this one at $3b when muddy waters released their news.

The thing is that muddy waters is not always correct, but since the majority holders are institutions who never did due diligence on these companies anyways, they sell out immediately out of fear.

Also, there is so much talk about Chinese RTO's at the moment that if anyone released a 20p report with pictures(regardless of accuracy) the stock will freefall.

Muddywaters has been very effective in its short calls. It effectively took down CCME to $1 and change and TRE.TO down 60% today on the Toronto exchange.
