Oh ok I misread what your benchmark of beating the market was. I assumed that it would be from the spinoff price as opposed to after the selloff.
Excellent research.
HAWK would have to be considered a big failure though. Now in bankruptcy and selling off assets. Despite that it went up 30+%, most would have lost their money.
Out of curiosity, where did you come up with the list of spinoffs? Do you maintain a spreadsheet or just look through all the filings?

amazing results. There are a few more off the top of my head such as MHH and SBRA that have not beaten the market though. MMI is also another that is not beating the market. I was watching MMI when it first spun off and gave up when it shot up 30% but now that it has come way back down, I think I'll start looking at it more closely now.
