OK, been lurking long enough, time to participate.
I've set up my rss feed for special situations as mentioned in one of OSV blog posts.
I've got PREM 14A for preliminary M&A filings,
SC TO T-I-C, 13E, 13 E4F, D9, 14 D1F, 14 D9C for tender offers, going private
and 10 12B for spin offs.
Just wondered if I'm missing any, or if I have any redundancies. Some of the SC's come in different formats, yet others don't. Just want to make sure I have my settings right.
My other question is about restructuring. I read an article where the writer suggested watching for loan covenant violations, then check for insider selling. Watch the company for the start of insider buying and a debt restructuring announcement. (In the hopes of a rebound in share price.)
Just wondering the viability of something like this and how to set up an alert for it. I would assume from filings I've seen from the SEC, if there was an announcement, it would come as an 8K. I tried a google alert for debt restructuring and had over 100 in my reader on Monday morning. Too many.
Anyone have any suggestions as to alerts for this, or is it not viable for an individual investor to track? (As compared to tenders or spin offs that are somewhat easier to research and track).
