I've been around here a while, but never introduced myself: I'm a 22 year old student at Purdue University studying Finance/Accounting. About 1.5 years ago, I read Snowball by Alice Schroeder followed by The Intelligent Investor and Security Analysis. For lack of a better word, I fell in love with investing, the hunt for a 50-cent-dollar energized me like nothing else before.
I enjoy it because it's like a puzzle that never ends and can keep me engaged for as long as I can work. Before investing, I was involved with a few things, which I'm just going to briefly summarize: Started a business with $100 and sold it 4 years later, spent time working for an inventor, joined the board of a publishing foundation ($2M/year in revenue, $4M in assets), started a business last summer with 2 business partners who are continuing it while I'm in school, and been involved with other things as well.
Anyway, I'm in the stock markets because I'm looking for a good deal, that's what it boils down to. Last year was an exceptional year in just about any small cap stock simply because there was a huge lack of liquidity, but I'm confident that there will still be good returns over the next few years, even if it doesn't allow for people to have returns in the hundreds of percent
