It isn't a problem because if you go to yahoo or reuters and check, the website itself displays "Share Value error".
The spreadsheet is simply pulling that exact info.
It does occur for some companies but 99% of the time, the shares outstanding will be extracted properly. Don't forget to check the shares outstanding is correct with each company you run.

Thanks.
I can get it to work with manual share number (just quickly tested).
I assume the "shares outstanding" figure is millions, so that for 3.7B shares I'd enter 3700 in the yellow box next to shares outstanding, right?
BTW, is this a known problem? Shouln't the 'shares outstanding' be retrieved automatically along with the rest of the data?
Or is this a company/symbol specific issue?

From the screenshot it looks like the spreadsheet is working.
You are getting errors because the share value is incorrect.
Next to the shares outstanding box, enter the correct value into the yellow box and press calculate or F9.
Then it will work. If the spreadsheet shows errors, make sure the inputs are correct by putting in the numbers manually into the yellow boxes only.

I can see that the spreadsheet is working properly. Since the valuation numbers are not coming through, I believe that the shares outstanding isn't being pulled. Could you also press the "Clear ALL" in the summary tab and calculate again.
On the DCF valuation tab, does the shares outstanding show up?
Can you provide a screen shot of the DCF valuation tab at the bottom where it says company valuation?
I've re-installed a few times, cleared the Excel cache, put everything in Trust Center as trusted, re-installed the SMF add-in, etc.
Now, the situation is this:
1. Pressing "Clear All" button on the "Summary tab" does not clear the spread sheet (it used to, I think, but now the standard 'JNJ' data remains)
2. 'Shares Outstanding' on the 'DCF Valuation' tab are not retrieved. The cell value reads "Share Value Error"
I'm at my wits end, could you please advice.
Below is a screenshot of the DCF Valuation tab:

I'm still getting a lot of #VALUE! type errors in multiple cells, regardless of the following:
1. Clean install of the files w/ installer OldSchoolValue_Spreadsheet-v7.0.1b under Excel 2007 in Win 7
2. All macros ENABLED in Excel
3. Stock Market Functions Add-in ENABLED under Add-ins
4. Decimal separator set to : .
5. Thousands separator set to : ,
6. C:\SMF added to Trusted Folders in Security Center
7. I have NOT saved any changes to the xls-files themselves
8. Internet connection is working, firewall is not blocking anything
9. I have logged OUT of Morningstar.com and other morningstar sites from ALL of my browsers (IE 32-bit, IE64bit, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, etc) + cleared the cookies
10. Removed and re-installed several times (no errors in install)
Can you please advice.
Here's an example of what the situation looks like:

The spreadsheets open just fine and perform calculations just fine, without link errors, but all the data under the statements tab results in errors. It looks like the ‘RCHGetTableCell’ function isn’t retrieving any data. Therefore almost all important intrinsic value calculations result in #Value! Errors.
If you have a Morningstar account, you MUST log out.
If you are logged in, the URL's are different so excel is trying to get data from a different url which will result in errors.
