Please read the following spreadsheet installation first. You can also view the PDF at scribd.
If it still doesn't work after going through the pdf try the following.
- Restart excel or your computer in order to flush out the cache/temporary memory.
- If you are very new to excel and unzipping make sure you unzip RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.zip to C:/SMF
Make sure you unzip everything to the correct directory. Most people unzip by using the option "unzip to folder" which means that you are unzipping to another folder. i.e. you end up unzipping to C:/SMF/RCH_Stock_Market_Functions which is incorrect.
I emphasize this point because EXCEL insists upon saving a workbook with the hard-coded location of the add-in. That means if you move the add-in, or open a workbook someone else created with the add-in in a different location of yours, that hard-coded location will cause the add-in functions to not be found.
- Click on a cell in the statements tab and check whether the formula is something like the following
='C:/Program Files/SMF Add-in/RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla'!RCHGetTableCell("http://quicktake.morningstar.c…..px?Symbol="&Ticker,8,">Cash Flows From Operating Activities",">Net Income")
The formula should NOT start with the folder where you unzipped to. It has to be:
=RCHGetTableCell("http://quicktake.morningstar.c…..px?Symbol="&Ticker,8,">Cash Flows From Operating Activities",">Net Income")
To fix this, immediately close the spreadsheet without saving anything and follow the extensive step by step guide on the installation manual.
