Most of the time, the add-in can get data from a secure site, as long as you have used either IE or the EXCEL Web Query process to log on before you use the add-in to access the site.

That''s because the add-in uses the same engine IE does to access the Internet, so it uses the IE settings, the IE cookies, and the IE cacheing. So, if you log in with IE, it generally sets up a security cookies so you can access web pages without logging in for EACH web page — and since the XMLHTTP process the add-in is using uses the IE security cookie when accessing the site, it can grab the web pages. I have seen exceptions though.

For example, I use the add-in to grab data from several sites I need to log in to — Zacks, MorningStar, IBD, NetFlix, etc.

Nope, you do have to register on the FT.com webpage to get the 5 years of data (otherwise you only get 3 years), but registration is absolutely free.

The FT.com page gives you 5 years of international stocks data, don't know if it is possible to retrieve it with the add-in.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll have to look into whether retuers, advfn, yahoo and other sites that I get data from have the same format. That's what's difficult because all the sites use their own method.

As for NCAV, that is a real easy addition.

In the EPV tab, next to NNWC at the top you could add NCAV with the formula current assets – total liabilities.

I'll put it in next time.

"There is seriously no country other than the US that is so open with information."

I believe Canadian companies fit in this category as well as we are so interlinked with the US and there is tons of data available on morningstar for the mid-larger companies.  It appears that the only modification that would be necessary is to add the "XTSE:" before the symbol? An alternative to pulling data for Canadian companies would be to pull them from tsx.com

Other suggestions would be to perhaps add a category for the calculation of NCAV?

Keep up the good work!

I do want to try and adapt the spreadsheet for international stocks and indexes but it wont be possible unless there is a site that offers the depth of information such as morningstar or retuers. There is seriously no country other than the US that is so open with information.

If you know of any sites that offer at least 5 years of financial statements please let me know.
