Hi Jae,
I just deployed another version of the screener that has more advanced drag and drop functionality. It now allows you to drag terms to the beginning of the equation and re-arrange equations at will.

One thing I am finding difficult is how to rearrange a formula.
e.g. I drag and drop "current assets – total liabilities > market cap"
I then want to put parenthesis around current assets and total liabilities, but I cant do it easily without deleting everything.

Hi All,
This is just to let you know we added another two dozen or so search criteria — mostly relating to efficiency and valuation ratios.
Best,

Hi Floris,
I understand that a ranking system can be very powerful, but you know that you can currently sort the results of the query by clicking at the top of the results columns, right? I'm attaching a screen shot to show you what it looks like.

Hi Jae and Wilson,
That worked fine thx Jae
Wilson I have one more suggestion, is it possible (or possible to include..) a ranking system. If you select for low p/b stocks that the screener automatically sorts it? Now its difficult to see the relative value of your selection.

Floris

Hi All,
This is just to let you all know that we've launched several new features that we've been working on for the last few weeks. Here's a short list of them:
- Save Screens – You can now save a screen in your workspace
- Share Screens – Once you have a screen, you have the option of sharing it with other users in the system.
- Dashboard – You can subscribe to your own screens or to shared screens, which will allow you to see all the stocks in the combined screens on your Dashboard. The Dashboard is updated every day based on the screens that you've subscribed to. This gives you a single page that can contain your watch list.
- Additionally, based on suggestions from SomrH, we added "Intangibles" and "Tangible Book Value / Share" to the list of query criteria.
Please check out the new features and let us know what you think.
Best,
Wilton

Hi Guys,
I apologize for not responding sooner — I've been traveling which has kept me away from the computer. These are all good ideas and I will look into them.
- In terms of the previous years' data — I actually have all of this data already and the backend of the screener will allow it, it's just a matter of designing a user interface that allows this while maintaining simplicity. That is one of the features we are working on.
- I just added two more screen criteria: Dividend Coverage and Dividend Payout Ratio — I will look into getting the Short Interest data as well.

When you run those formulas always remember to use brackets.
Try the following formula
marketcap < (2/3)*(current assets – total liabilities)
You will end up with less than 30 results and very similiar to the results I get on my screener.

I tried that and wasn't able to get that to work. It gave me 3000+ results so something about that doesn't work. The way I entered it in (and this gives good results) is as follows:
Market Cap * 3 / 2 < Current Assets – Total Liabilities
This gives 45 results and the list looks pretty familiar.
The way you have it appears to be equivalent to what I have so I'm not sure why it doesn't work. Perhaps it doesn't like something about the formatting???

@somrh @ wilson,
Not exactly. I tried adding it myself but it wasnt quite possible yet due to restrictions. I should have been clear on defining my strategy. Its Ben Grahams Net Net Strategy.
So MV/(Net Current Assets – Total Liabilities). The figure Graham looked for were stocks trading at a 33% discount to this formula. Further definining the formula=
If 0.66>(MV/(Net current assets – Total liabilities)) Then display
This is what I am looking for, and it is what gurufocus charges for. Jae has a similar screen but for some reason i dont get all the results i get from other screeners.
Thanks for the effort thus far!

Floris

vdell,
You are correct. Nice catch. My brain was stuck on "current".
Wilton,
I'd like to echo Jae's suggestion of being able to compare financial statements from previous years.
I also noticed that there isn't a short interest option which might be useful as well.

What I would like to see is whether the screener will be able to compute formulas by entering previous year financial statement line items.

Floris,
Most of those you should be able to currently calculate. For example, NCAV is just Current Assets – Current Liabilities which are both part of the screening criteria. You can then do comparisons with Market Cap.
Wilton,
I look forward to what features you'll be adding soon. The only thing I'd like to calculate which I haven't figured out how to calculate on your screen is Tangible Book Value. Would it be possible to add in intangibles (good will, etc)? Or is there a way to already do it and I'm just not seeing it?

Hi there Wilson,
Good job on your efforts thus far. I have one question will you add a NCAV or Net Net Screener for RobotDough. Id imagine there would be some demand for that screen.

Floris

Hi All,
To update you all on the "free account" promotion — we've had such a great response that we're going to run it for another 24 hours. What that means is that anybody who registers on RobotDough in the next day will get an account that converts to a free account after we move to the paid subscription model. Anybody who registers after that will get a "normal" account.
Thanks!

Yeah, I was going to go to your site to report the Piotroski issue but haven't had time yet. Thanks for looking into it. I'm always fond of good information and resources (such as here at OSV) and your tool looks quite useufl.

Hi All,
This is Wilton from RobotDough. I saw some traffic coming from this site and followed it to find this discussion. First, thanks for posting the link to our new screener. We've been working on this for a while now and are happy to see it's being used, even during the beta test.
And in regards to the bugs, thanks for reporting them. We investigated the Piotroski issue and found a bug that we introduced over the weekend. It is now fixed. In regards to the GUI issues, we are working on a fix for those as well. I'm hoping to have them resolved this evening.
During this beta phase, we are looking for every opportunity to improve the overall screening experience, so if you have any thoughts or comments, I'd like to encourage you to click on the blue "Help & Support" tab on the right side of the RobotDough.com site. We'll try to accomodate any reasonable suggestion we can.
We do plan on charging a nominal fee in the future. However, we believe in the "freemium" model and will make as much available for free as possible. That said, anybody who registers during this beta period will get a free subscription once the site goes live.
All the best,
Wilton
