Data for Free Spreadsheets

Quick Update. I’ve been informed that data retrieval for the various free stock spreadsheets on this site is not working.

Until now, I have been using Morningstar as the main data source, but as of yesterday, Morningstar has completely redesigned their website and the data is no longer available.

I will be fixing the free spreadsheets in the coming days and weeks, but the premium spreadsheet buyers have first priority with updates and support.

In the meantime, I appreciate your patience.

Do the Premium spreadsheets work today, or do they also need to be updated? I just found the site and am interested in the DCF premium spreadsheet. -Thanks

Yes the premium sheets do work for people that buy it today.

    Hi Jae,

I was wondering if there was a fix for free spreadsheets regarding the Income Statements not grabbing data from MorningStar.

Is there another formula I can write into the cell that will make this work?

    Currently “=RCHGetTableCell(“http://quicktake.morningstar.com/Stock/Income10.asp?Symbol=”&Ticker, 2, “Fiscal Year-End:”, “>Revenue”)”

This one just brings up “Error”

Your help is greatly appreciated as always!

    Thanks,
    Jeff

All the free spreadsheets have been updated, but to get the latest, you must enter your email address and sign up. You’ll then receive a list of download links when you confirm.

    Jae Jun,

Thanks a lot, I was unaware of all those handy links once I joined. You are definitely a whiz when it comes to Excel. I too had made up a Portfolio tracker in excel very similar to the one you provide in the email.

I downloaded the new DCF Spreadsheet, but there is only two tabs; the Disclaimer and the DCF Valuation tabs.

I would actually like to continue to use your old spreadsheets just because I’ve added a lot of my own formulas in the sheets to calculate different things. Is it possible I could just copy and paste the new Morningstar formulas into the Income Sheet section?

    Thanks again,
    Jeff

Im not sure what Morningstar formulas you are referring to but as far as I know, Morningstar income statement formulas will no longer work.

I have been looking at your spreadsheet, and have a question. Do I need to sign up for Morningstar, to get the data up dated?

    @ Jack,

No you do not need a morningstar subscription or any subscriptions.

    Jae Jun,
I found the manual. But, I still get it to work. The SMF.exe add-in is installed. I can not find the zip file, with the valuation_spreadsheets_for_excel_2007. I would like to a look at the spreadsheet be for committing to your program.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jack

    @ Jack,

The “valuation_spreadsheets_for_excel_2007″ mentioned in the manual is for premium users. It is the manual that comes with the purchase.
In the email that you received to download 9 spreadsheets, download those links to try out the different free version.

There is no way to try out the premium version before purchasing I’m afraid.

How do you download the links to the 9 spreadsheet?
