Old School Value blog

Empowering value investors with stock valuation, ideas and tutorials

Update and Upcoming on OSV

A quick update for readers. Whether you have noticed or not, posts have been trickling in at 1 a week. It will probably be this way for another 1-2 weeks. So to keep you up to date and not leave you in the dark, here are some ideas I have for Old School Value.

Social Investing with Twitter

Also, if you haven’t noticed, VVTV has finally garnered big institution buyers with a turnaround looking to happen soon. And rather than posting up 1 short paragraph, I have been having dicussions, receiving latest news, links and investor material from fellow investing twitter mates.

It does make life easier because I have it set up to deliver updates straight to my phone via normal text messages since I have a full time job and can’t spend a lot of time on the internet.

Some twitter investors you should look up and follow who won’t spam you (do a search for these usernames):

  • Jae_Jun (me)
  • asues
  • cavalatica
  • compoundinglife
  • Dividends4Life
  • DividendGrowth
  • FatPitch
  • jhodges72
  • ken_ipl31
  • PlanMaestro
  • shadowstock
  • stockmanmarc
  • valuestocks
  • WideMoat
  • yesandnotyes

Upcoming on OSV

Here is a list of planned and upcoming articles to look forward to.

  • Stock Research Analysis of Mastech Holdings (MHH) - I bought MHH and want to write a post but just cant seem to find the time to complete it. Still trying.
  • Book review of F Wall Street – EXCELLENT book for all beginner to intermediate investors.
  • How to Use Investment Spreadsheets – I’ll explain how I use the spreadsheets to determine the fair value of hundreds of companies in a relatively short amount of time with an accuracy of approximately 70%.
  • 2009 Fortune 40 Best Stock List – Reader Aly, informed me that the 2009 Fortune 40 list is out. I’ve taken a look and it is looking good for long term passive investors. 23 changes made to the list.

Longer Term To Do List

  • Change site design to improve speed. A little too rich at the moment.
  • Compile and edit valuation methods and related posts into a single ebook.

Quick note, ken_ipl31 and compoundinglife are both my twitter accounts. I am attempting to consolidate all investing related tweets to the compouding life account so if you could pull the other one it would be much appreciated :)
