Frequently Asked Questions

Call me or email me if you have any questions.

Getting Started
-How does the spreadsheet work?

You enter a stock symbol you are interested in, and then Microsoft Excel automatically functions as an internet browser to access various finance websites to gather data. The collected data is then processed, calculated and loaded to your screen. You can then adjust a few figures to fine tune the calculations. Once complete, you have the capability to save it or print the data and keep for your records.

-How do I install the spreadsheets?

Installation is very simple and there is a detailed step by step guide as well as a video in the Install Help section. It is just a matter of going to your Excel menu and adding an Excel add-on.

-How do I download the spreadsheets?

Once payment has been made and accepted by Paypal, the system will automatically send you an email with the download link. Please make sure to read through the instructions in the email as it may state whether the file has a download limit.

-I purchased the spreadsheet but did not receive the download link.

Please check your spam box or wait a little longer for the system to send you the download link. In case the email was sent to your spam box, make sure to add jae.jun@oldschoolvalue.com to your safe list or wait a little longer. If you still do not receive the download link, forward me the purchase receipt email and I will send you the link as soon as possible.

-Can I use this on both my home and work computer?

Yes. Unlike any other software company, I allow a single investor to use it on their home, work and other computers. For multiple users, a separate purchase has to be made. This agreement is based on trust as my objective is to empower small investors with investment tools. However, to prevent abuse, encrypted code is embedded which will alert me via email of any such breaches in conditions. Your refund, upgrade period and site privileges will be canceled immediately.

Spreadsheet and Data Questions
-Where does the data for the spreadsheet come from?

The data comes from a variety of free financial websites such as Yahoo Finance, Reuters, Smart Money, and ADVFN. The program functions just like your internet browser by accessing the website behind the scenes and then saving the numbers onto the spreadsheet.

-Where is the data stored?

Data is not stored anywhere on your computer. All data is dynamic.

-When are the next fiscal year numbers updated?

The spreadsheet is completely dynamic which means there is no database from which it gets the numbers. If sites such as Yahoo or Google finance is updated with the latest fiscal results, then the spreadsheet will display it. Even if you do not use the spreadsheet for a year, the next time you use it, the latest financial numbers will be displayed.

-Will it work for OTC and Pink sheet stocks?

Mostly no because OTC and pink sheet stocks do not have enough data. However, you can enter data manually into the financial statements and still make use of 80% of the functionality.

-Do I need any other subscription to run the program?

No. All data comes from free finance websites. No additional subscription for data is required. Since the data is free, please respect the data source by not overloading the system with repetitive tasks.

-Are international stocks supported?

No. International stocks will not work. Only US listed stocks. If you live outside the US, it will still work as long as you look up US stocks.

Computer Compatibility
-What version of Windows Office is required?

Excel 2007 and up is recommended but Excel 2003 will work. Excel 2003 and older will be phased out eventually.

-Will this work on Mac or Office for Mac?

It will not work on MAC. The only way to get the program working on MAC is to create a partition or virtual system and install Windows OS and Windows Excel. It will not work on any version of MAC or Office for Mac. The latest version of MAC Excel will NOT work. No plans to make it MAC compatible at this time.

-Will this work on Open Office?

No. Open Office does not support any VBA code and macros.

-Will this work on Office365?

No. It has been confirmed by Microsoft that macros will not run.

-Will this work on smartphones?

No. Even if smartphones are equipped with Excel, it will not run.

Upgrades are free for one year from the date of your purchase. You will receive all fixes, upgrades and updates within this one year period. To continue receiving updates after the one year period, you must re-purchase the spreadsheet.

-How much is the upgrade fee?

There is no additional fee ever. No monthly fee. No annual fee. Once you purchase, it is yours to keep unless you refund. With the purchase you receive a 1 year "warranty" period where I continue to send you updates, fixes and even feature upgrades. If you wish to get an upgrade after your 1 year warranty period is over, you will have to repurchase to get the latest version. You will not be billed again or automatically.
