Getting Started
-How does the spreadsheet work?

You enter a stock symbol you are interested in, and then Microsoft Excel will connect to a dedicated Morningstar professional data feed to download the annual and quarterly financial statements. The data is then processed, calculated and loaded directly onto your spreadsheet.

You then have complete control of adjustments, customization and fine tuning to your hearts content. Once complete, you have the capability to save, print or create a report or presentation to wow your friends and boss.

-How do I install the spreadsheets?

There is NO installation needed! All you need is Excel 2003 and newer to run this spreadsheet. Just download the spreadsheet from the Members Area and get started immediately. There are documentation on how to use the spreadsheets with tutorials continually being created. View the documentation in the Install Help section.

-How do I download the spreadsheets?

During the sign up process, you will be asked to create a username and password for your account. When the payment has been made, you can log into the Members Area to download the spreadsheet.

-I purchased the spreadsheet but did not receive the download link.

Please go to the Members Area and download the spreadsheet from your account.

-Can I use this on both my home and work computer?

YES. Unlike any other software company, you are able to use this on multiple computers. A single investor can use it at home, work and other computers if needed.

For multiple users, a separate purchase for each user has to be made. To prevent abuse, if the same account is logged in from multiple locations, you will be asked to log out of other instances and will not be able to use the spreadsheet until you do so.

Spreadsheet and Data Questions
-Where does the data for the spreadsheet come from?

The spreadsheet connects directly to Morningstar's dedicated professional data. The raw data is downloaded directly to your spreadsheet. This is the same data that is used on the Morningstar website as well as other financial portals such as www.advfn.com. Additional company and competitor key statistics make use of the API from Yahoo Finance.

-Where is the data stored?

Data is stored on the spreadsheet until you enter another company ticker. The data is then overwritten. In other words, all data is dynamic and is refreshed to the latest available. If you want to save a copy of the spreadsheet for a specific company, you have the option to save it as a PDF or as another copy.

-When are the next fiscal year numbers updated?

The spreadsheet is completely dynamic. This means as soon as the updated numbers are available, it will automatically download it. Even if you do not use the spreadsheet for a year, the next time you use it, the latest financial numbers will be displayed.

-Will it work for Financial, OTC and Pink sheet stocks?

Financial stocks will not work because financial companies use different GAAP financial statements. Most valuation methods also do not apply to financial companies. Financial stocks include banks, holding companies, insurance and REIT's. Since OTC and pink sheet stocks do not have enough financial data, it will not work. However, you have the ability to enter data manually into the financial statements and still make use of the majority of functionality.

-Do I need any other subscription to run the program?

No extra payment, fees or charges are required. Your payment covers all data and subscription costs.

-Are international stocks supported?

No. International stocks will not work. Only US listed stocks. If you live outside the US, it will still work as long as you look up US stocks.

Computer Compatibility
-What version of Windows Office is required?

Excel 2007 and up is recommended but Excel 2003 will work. Excel 2003 is more than 12 years old and will be phased out eventually to make use of the best possible features of Excel 2007 and above.

-Will this work on Mac or Office for Mac?

No. Unfortunately, a Mac version is not available. If you still wish to use it, you will need to run Windows on your MAC to run the spreadsheets.

-Will this work on Open Office?

No. Open Office does not support any VBA code and macros.

-Will this work on Office365?

No. It has been confirmed by Microsoft that macros will not run.

-Will this work on smartphones?

No. Even if smartphones are equipped with Excel, it will not run as it requires macros to work.
