I see. When I came across CMTL, I was skeptical of its competitive advantage over the long run but now that I think about it again, a company with such good numbers must have some sort of moat which has enabled them to keep up its operations and still profit.

I don't know, Jae, what my original investment thesis was, other than that it was a company that made money providing a service in a growing niche and it continued to spend its resources looking for new ways to provide service and value to its customers and do it well and consistently. It was not a glamour stock, spending its energies seeking attention. Is that what you mean? And in the same way, I admire AAON, KTII, INSU, and FLS.

That's fantastic. How did you come across it then and do you still think your original investment thesis still holds?

I own CMTL (well, a fraction of it..) since 2000 and am interested in AAON, KTII, INSU, FLS in the same way - holding long.

Thanks, that forum is quite active and full of interesting ideas.
Although it doesn't fit with my criterias it is interesting nonetheless.

I'll see what I come up with on ANSS and see whether it makes my list.

Hey Jae:

I analyzed # 41-50 of the Forbes 200 as part of a project that assessed the Quality of each stock according to the concepts of Better Investing (long-term, fundamental investing in growth stocks). I thought Ansys (ANSS) was the best of this bunch and, if you’re interested, you can read my assessment here:

http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=21&nav=messages&webtag=ws-naic&tid=32854

I also have a blog where I use BI’s main tool, the Stock Selection Guide (SSG), to analyze individual growth stocks: http://arminfields.wordpress.com

I fully analyzed ANSS on 10-5-08; scroll down 4 posts past the Table if Contents to “Assessing Ansys (ANSS).”
